Chin Chih Yang was born in Taiwan and graduated from Parsons School of Design in Manhattan (BFA 1986). He received his Master of Science degree from Pratt Institute in 1994. He has received grants from institutions such as the New York State Council on the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Franklin Furnace Archives. He has also participated in numerous art residencies and invited exhibitions around the world, including at the Santa Fe Art Institute, The MacDowell Colony, The Corporation of Yaddo, the Bogliasco Foundation, and the MASS MoCA in Italy.
Chin Chih’s work aims to challenge outdated economic structures and financial systems. Whether as an individual or a collaborative project, his work, on an international scale, showcases the will for art and freedom in the public sphere; promoting social justice through critical thinking to eliminate injustice.
In addition to sharing his creative process, the presentation will also cover his recent project, “Watch Us, Together We Can Do it!”, originally scheduled for February 21st and invited by the cultural activities department of the 2026 Winter Olympics. However, due to delays in obtaining the local permit, issues related to security, insurance, and funding have forced the cancellation of this valuable opportunity. It will be rescheduled for a later date, and those interested are encouraged to attend.
